This is a new video by earthsense - Strength in Numbers asking people what green means to them. It's interesting to hear what other people think of as green and how completely different each persons view is.

I am a brand-spanking-new member of Greener People and so far, I am completely loving it! I've always had a passion for the environment and have recently made a commitment to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. I also have another blog (thegreensavant.wordpress.com) that I just started that will somewhat follow and catalog all of my progress in the quest for the lighter-footprint! Hello Everyone!
I am new to the site as of today. I'm not sure that I am hard core green. I have seen a few posts on the forums that are quite intense. I am a young adult and am so grateful to have been brought up in this era. I am grateful that our school systems taught us in school about the environment and how the products we use as well as how we dispose of our waste effects the environment. I know that the school systems now (at least in my area) are doing even more now than they were in my school days to teach children about these things. So much damage has already been done to our planet and I am proud to say I am doing my part to help stop this. I love to recycle; I try to make sure everything I purchase is recyclable. And I have just found a company that sells great eco friendly products. I wanted to post this first entry of my blog to say hello and introduce myself a bit. I joined this site as I am in the process right now of converting my entire home to not contain any harsh chemicals and I am a firm believer that you never know how far you have come unless you can recall where you have been. So I am going to track my life and progress and successes.

As many of the regulars to this site probably already know. I've moved my family from Chicago to New Hampshire. We bought an old Cape Cod that needed some work, especially in the area of energy efficiency. The previous owner was using 1800 gallons of heating oil per year and at least two full cords of wood, probably more to heat the house. I've been taking pictures along the way and will post what I've done and the progress I've made once I get a little more settled in.

We've also applied for an energy efficiency program through the local utility that starts with a discounted home energy audit and I plan on posting about our experience with the program if we get in.

Eco Christmas Books

I have always wondered what happens to all the left over food and toys going around on these two holidays. Of coarse there are other holidays I think about too, however these two holidays are something I think about the most. I understand I somehow contribute to waste in the environment, but I do everything I can to help out. I recycle, buy reusable bags for groceries, dont buy wasteful products, and many other things. I cant seem to let curiosity go in terms of where all the left over products end up. Landfills maybe? What will happen ten years down the line? 20, 30 40, 100? In this society we produce useless toys, games, and overestimate food production for holidays. All this has to be detrimental to the destruction of our environment. Surely there are other factors that would be considered contributors to this such as: war, oil spills, car exhaust, cleaning product, landfills, battery waste, etc. I wonder if people really even think how this impacts our future. If they even think? Do they???:mad:
