Thanksgiving/Christian, Wasteful Production Dates?

I have always wondered what happens to all the left over food and toys going around on these two holidays. Of coarse there are other holidays I think about too, however these two holidays are something I think about the most. I understand I somehow contribute to waste in the environment, but I do everything I can to help out. I recycle, buy reusable bags for groceries, dont buy wasteful products, and many other things. I cant seem to let curiosity go in terms of where all the left over products end up. Landfills maybe? What will happen ten years down the line? 20, 30 40, 100? In this society we produce useless toys, games, and overestimate food production for holidays. All this has to be detrimental to the destruction of our environment. Surely...

Borrow it!

After the delivery van drove off, I looked down at the parcel dumped on my doormat in amazement. The order I placed was for a toy hamster dimensions 3 inches by 6 inches. The box at my feet was large enough to house a small hippopotamus. Great fun for the children, maybe, but this set me thinking about the enormous amount of waste we are creating every single day.
Yes, the box was clearly labeled as “made from 80% recycled material”, so well done to the well-known retail chain, some effort was made to reduce this particular company’s carbon footprint but in my eyes this seems to have been completely negated by the shockingly wasteful excess packaging.
It strikes me that the best, perhaps only, way to cut down on the amount...

Vertical Gardens - Eco-friendly wall art

Posted 10-31-2009 at 09:59 AM by isupereco (Eco-friendly Wall Art)

Eco-friendly wall art should be something most people start using. Traditionally, most people have used paintings and other art to covert their walls, but it doesn't necessarily have a positive impact on the environment.

It's great to have pictures of family and loved ones, but if we could pitch in to have a vertical garden / living wall in each of our homes, we could all contribute to lowering CO2 and increasing the oxygen in our homes.

Living walls can be hung on the walls of your living room or kitchen and are great 3d artwork. They are alive and actively take out some impurities in your home.

Week 9 Household Cleaning & Laundry

Over the last 5 decades or so the quest for cleanliness in the home, and a drive to achieve it as effortlessly as possible has lead to the development of increasingly powerful cleaning products. It may even be true to say that to a certain extent we have become obsessed with germ killing, which in the long run may well do us more harm than good, as a certain amount of exposure to germs gives us a chance to build immunity. Personally, I always smile at the ads which say: “kills 99% of household germs” I reckon it’s obviously the 1% that the product can’t kill which are the most resilient, and the unhealthiest for you. So you’ve just wasted a lot of money, and a lot of elbow grease! One of the ways...
