What really annoys me is the daft 'residents committees' that say youre not allowed to dry your clothes on balconies or in gardens. I think this is totally absurd - especially as in the UK there are only a few days a year when the weather would allow that anyway!! Thankfully our flat has a brilliant airing cupboard containing the hot water boiler which is big enough for a clothes horse. We also have a curtain pole accrossthe top of the cupboard for hanging jeans and shirts from - its out of the way and is dry ina couple of days! Perfect!

This is always a good idea. Though it requires some work, clothes drying with the sun and wind is perfect. No heating cost or whatsoever =)

I have always dried my clothes with clothes line. I have both indoor and outdoor clothesline setup. So if it's winter, I use the one indoor and the outdoor ones are for the superb heat of the summer sun. I got my Clothesline from this site on an affordable price . I just heard there are some state that won't let people use clothes line just because it's not pleasing to the eyes and I think that it not so eco-friendly at all.

Put a retractable clothesline in your basement for the winter months. This will actually help add humidity to the dry winter air in your home as well.

Can you expand on this please as it really interests me? I have a basement never thought of doing this?
