In some countries it takes longer, but in spain most of the big supermarkets charge for plastic bags now. this makes people buy reusable ones. its becoming more common to bring your own bag, before no one cared about that. money is still the best way to make people change their habits. -
For some people it is very demanding to use reusable bags but in reality it is very demanding if we always choose plastic bags that after using we just throw away. I like the idea that if a person doesn't want to use reusable bags then charge him/her if she/he wanna use the plastic bag. It is more okay to be that way but if I were be the one to charge for a plastic bag then I charge it expensive so everyone will be push to use reusable ones. -
Plastic or paper - no thank you.
Reusable bag for life - yes please! -
Oh and with regards to the question about Tesco, most big chain stores (not just Tesco) are trying to keep plastic bags behind the counter now to save on money and one would hope to help save our environment. Maybe they are trying to shame people out of asking for a bag - I hope so, it works for me. -
Paper, when thrown away, can either be recycled or end up in the landfill. If it ends up in the landfill, over time it will break down. Plastic does not break down.I think we should use paper bag. -
Oh absolutely paper all the way - or a 'bag for life' that most supermarkets sell. I sometimes forget mine, so have about ten bags for life, though they are useful for other things. -
When there are so many fun and funky shopping bags out there its surprising that people still use plastic ones! Especially when they are often paying for the privilege! Guess tis just laziness but it is nice to see that supermarkets are making us more aware - having to ask for a bag, be given a few then have to ask more seems to make people look more sheepish (well they do when they are ahead of me in the queue!) -
According to me the paper are the bast thing . Because it will easily remove and it is eco friendly . On the other hand the plastic are not good for the environment . -
Plastic bags require energy to manufacture a little less usage rate of 1.5 to 1 compared with the role and more power at a rate of use of 2 to 1. Paper bags are better because they are made of wood, a renewable resource while plastic bags are made from petroleum. Also paper bags are recycled at a higher rate and is used more often, as many trash cans in the kitchen at home has been designed with paper bags in mind. -
This is a great thing to do. Stores I frequent know me by now and know that I never want a bag. Many also give you a small discount for bringing your own reusable bag. earthbongo: create the world you want, one project at a time!
