    Default Is online shopping better?

Is online shopping better than shopping in stores, becasue of the less carbon emmision as we do not travel there..etc. Just curious.

Shopping online certainly saves on gasoline and time. For those of us who don't shop as a recreational activity, it is the best way to shop!

It's certainly easier...but it's killing the High Street.

As for greener, it is, definitely...at least up until the time the ten ton delivery van turns up to deliver what you've bought online!

It may seem that online shopping is a better alternative as against physical shopping which would include riding your cars and bikes resulting in carbon emissions. But truth be said, it isn't really doing any good. Because:
    1) As knightofalbion rightly pointed out that the delivery van that would be handing you over your product, isn't really going to be an eco-friendly vehicle.
    2) The products that you are being delivered comes wrapped up in a double layer non bio-degradable plastic cover which again only contributes to the pollution.

    Hope this answers your question.

    Hi all

On a selfish note online shopping is great, but I also enjoy visiting shops particularly for clothes.

As for the green agenda online shopping is the way to go but as someone else has said it is killing the high street and local shops are key IMHO to developing a greener community.

So, what I am saying is that there has to be a balance between the two.

There is a way round it though. My own eco business is based on retailing to local people - neighbours, friends etc and helping others to do the same. This enables eco friendly products to be sold locally, which in turn helps develop a community feel with customers coming to me rather than buying the rubbishy and dangerous chemical based alternatives from supermarkets. Delivery doesn't need to be by car either. I can simply walk to deliver the goods. So there is a saving on carbon emissions as a bonus.

Not just that anyone can also buy from my web site and have items posted directly to their door.

I can't add links to my site so if anyone wants to know more about what we are doing including planting trees pm me.

Yeah, online shopping is much better than offline shopping because it saves time, fuel expense, money etc. You can do this at anywhere, it doesn't matter where you are. But if you will make useful communication b/w supplier and customer then it would be more beneficial. It has less drawbacks but more benefits. It is more better for that ones who have no time to shopping because of busy life and any other problem then online shopping is more helpful.

Well, online shopping has may advantages and disadvantages but what is important is internet shopping is beneficial and convenient for most people especially to busy ones. On the other hand, it is also good to our environment since people need not to commute or ride on their car.

Of course, it has pros and cons.

Another con would be you're not contributing to the local brick-and-mortar stores...
