How Can We Recycle to Save Our Planet?

In recent years, more businesses and municipalities have mandated recycling programs, which has been excellent news and created a positive impact. Unfortunately, the economic downturn has meant that, temporarily, some of the costs of recycling outweigh the returns. In the long term, of course, the opposite is true, but for local governments that need to cut immediate costs, the long term is hard to see. It's up to individuals to continue to press for recycling programs to guard against spiraling future costs and environmental catastrophe. Furthermore, recycling doesn't just save money, it saves energy and resources, both of which are in precious supply.

Recycling is great but if you really want to make an impact on the environment, start riding a bicycle like 580 million Chinese still do!

Well said. I think the more municipalities and business have got to start thinking about long-term solutions instead of short-term fixes if they are going to make a difference.

Recycling is the best way to make environment green & clean. We can start making environment green by avoiding small small things which cause environment polluted. Avoid going every nearest place by vehicle. If necessary hen go by bicycle. Also use jute bags for shopping, avoid plastic or paper bags.

We must not depend on government and group ourselves in our community to recycle. A community composting and a community garden can be created for small groups. Be the change you want it to be.
