Default Green while searching

I would like to have some feedback on VeoSearch.com, a search engine raising money for charity.

I'm doing an internship for them and I would like to see what you think? Could it be a new Facebook or is it just another fad?

Thank you for all your feedback!!!

I've not come across Veosearch but it looks ok.

I'm part of a startup of an eco-friendly search engine as well called www.GreenGoku.com

In my (biased) opinion this is better. It is the same as Veo in that all searching profits go to charity, but also the search results are weighted to 'green' companies. Eg if you search for say 'handbags' you automatically get the enviornmentally friednly products and companies returned as priority. This helps everyone stay green for there searches. Its also powered by Google so the results are also relevant and where there is no 'green' option the normal Google results are returned.

Also the screen is black which has been proven to take less power to run.

Generally speaking every little helps especially if it is a little from millions of people. Therefore whether you're using Veo or Green Search its better than nothing!

So make it your homepage!

Yeah, I had a look and it looks like a good idea. The problem I felt was that what if you are looking for something that is not green and end up not finding it since the green results are in the way?

Thanks for the reply

If you do a search as normal from the main page and find that the green results are in the way then you can select 'web search' under the search box on the results page instead of 'green search'

This will return standard Google search results.

Default A review of some green search engines...

7 Search Engines for Eco-Friendly Results

From: weheartworld.com - September 06, 2008

Quote:
Finding the newest and greatest in the world of “eco-friendly” can be a challenge. Traditional search engines are often populated with results that just don’t meet the needs of today’s environmentally-conscious web surfer.

We found dozens of search engines that filter their results with green intentions in mind. To test their results, we did a generic search on each for “gadgets” and posted the top 3 results.

Here is the list of the ones found to be excellent:

Doesn't look like anyone has mentioned the one I've been using.
