Green Label Shoes - What do you think?
Full disclosure upfront: I do work with Keds, and I'm specifically working on a shoe called "Keds Green Label." Since everyone here is so well-versed in how to live with the environment I wanted to ask you all your thoughts on the idea of these Green Label shoes.
You might have already read about them - Green Daily had a post up recently - but here are the main details of this shoe:
-It is made with 100% organic cotton
-The inks/dyes used to give the shoe its color are non-toxic
-The outsoles are made with 20% recycled rubber
-and the shoelaces are made of 100% recycled plastic bottles (PET)
Since this is a completely new thing for Keds, I was wondering, what do you think?
Wow! This is a great idea and I think people would really appreciate a green shoe! People like when its easy to be green. I know i would definitely buy that shoe, even if it just a small things to help the environment!
That is great to hear. One of the other interesting twists to these shoes is that for every pair sold, The Arbor Day Foundation will plant one tree. Thanks for the feedback, Rocko!
Also you might recognize the spokesperson for these shoes--she is Emily Sugihara, the girl that created the Baggu reusable bags. Is anyone familiar with her?
I think that this is a great idea and one that I will be following closely.
eminems and rocko, just wanted to let you know that there is a contest to win a free pair of these shoes. This one is going on until April 1:

btw Rocko I like your blog post about reusable grocery bags! My trick to stay in the habit of remembering them is to hang them by the front door (near my key hook). That way, they are right there at eye level when I grab my keys to go to the store.
That is Nice! I will buy one, The Greatest things start with little acts.
TOMS shoes are vegan... super comfy alpargatas... go try a pair on!
