Personal carbon capture and storage
This site looks interesting, it's talking about personal carbon capture and storage as a strategy to prevent climate change:
cou2.com
"The COyou2 patented technology works by filtering the air you breathe out, capturing the carbon in a convenient lightweight backpack.
As you breathe out into the tube, the carbon dioxide passes through a solution of ammonium nitrate and the reaction allows the carbon to be isolated. The carbon is then stored in exchangeable inner bags that can then be sequestered in any nearby location including your own backyard."
I've just ordered a catalogue, it's definitely worth checking out, after all, every little thing makes a difference. I never thought about human beings as being responsible for major carbon emissions, but I'm always looking for ways to lessen my carbon footprint.
What do you guys think?

That sounds like a rather elaborate or complicated approach.
Are you sure that in trying to address one problem it would not create new ones?
Somehow having indoor plants seems to be a more sustainable approach to "individual carbon sequestration".

Quite honestly, this is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard of!! If it was made with the intention of satire, then I give it a grade "A," but if this is for real, wow.
When one considers what percentage of their lives they're going to want to blow into this bag, it's most likely going to be extremely small, if not, wow.
And what about when I fart? Should I then get an extension so that I may reach the tube down to my... wow.

I would have liked to think this was intended as a satire or some kind of joke, but somehow it does not look so...
It seems they are serious about marketing this "invention" as an option for reducing carbon footprint

Worse yet, I just noticed that this second post is for a new "methane nozzle"... plug-in?
If this is some kind of satire, why would they put so much time and effort into it? It seems this has been posted on hundreds of websites. Plus, the time investment to create, maintain and update their website...

I just went back a read a little more.. It's definitely satire!! I must say, it is quite funny!
I just hope the intentions are right.... Simon - Are you (or whoever) trying to say that the concept of global warming is just as ridiculous as this new contraption? Or are you just laughing at the infinite ways people are coming up with to combat it?

Wow, they went through a lot of effort on this one! It's pretty funny but I curious about the motivations behind it. There's even a disclaimer at the bottom of the page:
Quote:

We can, however, guarantee that as our customer your money is going towards a green company that adheres to sustainable practices, produces eco-friendly products and has a deep commitment to Mother Earth™.
Notice to customers
COyou2 Ltd has recently become aware of allegations that our personal carbon capture storage systems are a hoax. Reminds me of the Google TiSP Welcome to Google TiSP
We had this young IT guy at work, he read through it, thoroughly, then he said, I quote "that's pretty cool but too bad it's only available in the US"!
ps: the cou2 agenda is in the download catalogue.
