Default Bioethanol Eco-Fires

Hi everyone!

I work for Vogue Flame, a company specialising in bioethanol fires.

It didn't take long before I realised that few people in the UK have ever heard of a biofire and those that have; aren't very informed about them.
You guys share our interest of living in an eco friendly way, so it seems natural that it's here that I should start teaching

So what IS bioethanol?
Bioethanol fuel has a number of advantages over other fuels. It comes from a renewable resource i.e. crops and not from a finite resource and the crops it derives from can grow well in the UK. Blending bioethanol with petrol will help extend the life of the UK’s diminishing oil supplies and ensure greater fuel security, avoiding heavy reliance on oil producing nations.

Ethanol or ethyl alcohol (C2H5OH) is a clear colourless and virtually odourless liquid (when burning), it is biodegradable, low in toxicity and causes little environmental pollution if spilt.

What are the benefits of bioethanol?
By encouraging bioethanol’s use, the rural economy would also receive a boost from growing the necessary crops. Bioethanol is also biodegradable and far less toxic that fossil fuels.

Another benefit, are the absorption of greenhouse gas emissions. The road transport network accounts for 22% (www.foodfen.org.uk) of all greenhouse gas emissions. Through the use of bioethanol, some of these emissions will be reduced as the fuel crops absorb the CO2 they emit through growing.

Why do we use bioethanol?

In addition to the reasons stated above, there are a lot of advantages to using bio ethanol fires. Bioethanol itself has a very clean burn and is virtually odourless. It leaves no soot deposit and the only notable emissions are a small amount of water vapour and CO2 .

Our burner absorbs the fuel and burns from the vapours as they evaporate. Only a certain amount of vapour can escape at any one time and therefore keep the flames at a safe level and will not react violently to a gust of wind (like other fires). The absorption by the ceramic stone means that the burner is virtually spill-proof, so in the unlikely event that the burner was tipped or knocked over, the fuel would stay inside the burner. Because of tis, this is one of the safest fires available and is the only burner with a TUV GS safety approval.

I hope this has helped to better inform about bioethanol fires! If any of you have any questions please contact me through this forum or through the contact us page on the Vogue Flame website.

Best Regards
Michael Parker
